John Madden is going to be a playable character for the very first time, despite the fact that his name and voice have been featured in the most prominent NFL content game series for more than 30 years. EA Sports revealed on Thursday that the Hall-of-Fame announcer will be a playable character in the upcoming installment of Madden NFL, which is version 23.

Although he shares his name with the franchise and has made an appearance on the game's sidelines, John Madden has never before been playable in EA Sports' Madden NFL series, which has been in production for the past 35 years. Beginning today, the two-way lineman John Madden, who was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1958, is a playable character in Madden Ultimate Team for all of the game's players in Madden NFL 23.

In college, Madden was a member of both the offensive and defensive lines, and he earned all-conference honors for his play as an offensive tackle for the Cal Poly Mustangs in 1957. Players who log in to MUT will automatically receive two cards for him upon doing so: one with a rating of 91 for defensive tackle and another with a rating of 99 for an offensive tackle. Through the completion of a series of challenges, DT Madden's overall rating can be increased to 99. It is possible to use the OT Madden in any of the five offensive line positions, including guard, tackle, or center.

Because of his history of injury, Madden was never given the chance to participate in an NFL game. Even though he hadn't yet started his senior year at Long Beach State, the Philadelphia Eagles selected him in the 21st round of that year's draft to play offensive tackle for them.

Madden was forced to retire due to a knee injury that occurred during his first training camp with the Eagles. After retiring, Madden moved on to become a coach for the team. In 1967, he got his start in the National Football League working for the Oakland Raiders as the linebackers coach.

Before the start of the 1969 season, the Raiders elevated Madden to the position of head coach. Before calling it quits after 10 seasons, he finished with a record of 103-32-7 and one Super Bowl victory.

Madden transitioned into the broadcasting industry and worked for a total of 40 seasons in television between the years 1979 and 2008. In 1988, a content game franchise produced by Electronic Arts and titled John Madden Football asked him to lend his name, voice, and creative expertise to the project.

There are a total of 37 games that have been released as part of the main series, in addition to multiple arcade versions and a version for mobile devices.

1. After his death in December 2021 at the age of 85, Madden appeared on the cover of the content game a total of thirteen times, including as a memorial for Madden NFL 23, which was released in December 2022

2.  In Madden NFL, he will wear the uniform of whichever team you choose; here, he is shown playing for the Eagles with the number that he used during training camp

3.  In 1959, Madden suffered a tear in the ligaments in his knee, which brought an early end to his playing career

4.  During the course of his recovery, he sat down with Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Norm Van Brocklin to watch the film

5.  It was from this experience that he gleaned the ideas and strategies that he would later implement as a coach over the course of the next 18 years

As a commentator, a tutorial advisor (in Madden NFL 09), and most recently as a head coach in Madden Ultimate Team, John Madden has made multiple appearances in his namesake content game over the years. Although offensive linemen are all controlled by the computer, this is his first appearance as a playable character.

John Madden was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders when they won the Super Bowl in 1977 and retired from coaching in 1978 as the NFL's all-time winningest (by percentage) head coach. He was inducted into the Canton Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and holds this record to this day. Following his retirement from coaching, he formed what would become the greatest and most successful broadcasting partnership in the history of the National Football League (NFL) by teaming up with Pat Summerall at CBS. On December 28th, 2021, Madden passed away in the comfort of his home in Pleasanton, California.

In 1957 and 1958, Madden was a standout offensive tackle for Cal Poly. He was so good in his junior season that the Philadelphia Eagles selected him in the 21st round of the 1958 NFL Draft. This event took place several months before Madden's senior season at Cal Poly. Madden still played his senior season at left tackle for Cal Poly, and he was in training camp with the Eagles in August 1959 when he suffered a knee injury. This injury effectively ended Madden's career as a professional football player before he had even played a single snap.

After getting into coaching, the big left tackle began his career as an assistant coach at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California. The college is located in the state of California. He eventually worked his way up to the position of defensive coordinator at San Diego State, after which he moved on to the National Football League (NFL), where he eventually became a linebackers coach for the Oakland Raiders in the year 1967. When Madden took over as head coach of the Raiders in 1969, he never considered stepping down from that position. Ten of those seasons were spent as head coach for the Raiders in the National Football League.

He finished his coaching career with an overall record of 112-39-7 before retiring. In 1977, under his leadership, the Raiders won the Super Bowl.
